Give it to the Creator

Why Give it the Universe When You Can Give It To God.

Have you ever just given it to the universe? or maybe you're one to balance your chakras and cleanse your energy fields with the healing power of crystals. I've been guilty of both. Unwittingly participating in the idol worship that nearly destroyed the children of Israel.

Does that shock you? It shouldn't.

In today's society, the lines of culture and religion are often blended. With a few keystrokes, we can easily access information on all sorts of rituals that have brought healing and transformation to the lives of many for centuries. But as believers, this is a dangerous path to venture down.

The word puts this plainly, "You should have no other god before me". By adopting these practices we are minimizing the power of God in our lives and assigning credit to our worldly free spirits who live unrestrained by God's will for us. In Hosea, the children of Israel faced God's judgment for similar practices.

"Woe to them, because they have strayed from me!

Destruction to them, because they have rebelled against me!

I long to redeem them but they speak about me falsely."

Hosea 7:13

What sticks out to me is God's declaration that his children speak of him falsely. Similarly, we want to access God our way and on our terms. We tell ourselves that these are harmless phrases or that the crystals and New moon celebrations do not conflict with our relationship with God. And my all-time favorite, "God knows my heart."

The truth is that God does know your heart, but as his child, you should know his word which says, "When they celebrate the New Moon feasts, he will devour their fields." (Hosea 5:7) God is all-knowing, all-seeing, and all-powerful. He doesn't need help from the universe, the crystals, or the new moon to transform your life.

Furthermore, why give it to the universe when you can give it to the Creator. Why cleanse your energy with crystals when you are cleansed by the blood of Christ.

I challenge you to reflect on the idols in your life. In doing so, determine where and why you need to repent. It is through repentance that we position ourselves to be restored to blessing. Most of all, be encouraged and know that even when we stray the Lord desires to be reconciled with us.

... We will never again say ‘Our gods’ to what our own hands have made, for in you the fatherless find compassion."

Hosea 14:3
