Who He Says I Am

A 7 Day Devotional for Women in Leadership

There is a popular adage that I love, “When you know whose you are, you know who you are.” I first heard it from a childhood pastor my friends and I affectionately nicknamed Rhyming Freddie. I didn’t realize it at the time, but this phrase marked a pivotal moment in my faith journey. It was a moment that forced me to look outside myself and seek God to determine who I would become in this world.

Similarly, our new devotional, Who He Says I Am: A 7 Day Devotional for Fierce Female Leaders, does just that. It aims to help believers build their identities based on the word of God and activate the faith needed to live their best lives. Each day, the devotional focuses on an attribute we have through our identity in Jesus. Here’s an excerpt.

I AM Thought Of

Thought: (a) one's mind or attention. (b) careful consideration or attention. (c) concern for another's well-being or convenience.

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart."

Jeremiah 29: 11-14

Cultural anthropologist and author Margaret Mead said, "A small group of thoughtful people can change the world; it's the only thing that ever has." One small thought is but a seed to change the world. That's the power of your thoughts. The power to change the world. How much more powerful are you when you consider what the Maker of heaven and earth thought of you?

The world would have you believe that you are one in a billion. But the Lord our God sees you as one of a kind. So rare that he sent his only Son to die for your sin and adopt you into his kingdom as a joint heir with Christ. Before you were born, God knew the plans he had for you. Those plans were to prosper you and fill you with hope for your future, to do the work he has for you.

When God thinks about you, he's thinking of peace, hope, and a future. He's thinking of the time he'll get to spend with you as you seek him in his word. That level of thoughtfulness is presumed when a person is expected to accomplish great things and experience victory.

And here's the good news. You will accomplish great things. The victory is already yours. You only need to seek your Father in Heaven. He's thought of the rest.

Questions to Consider

  1. What plans has God shown you he has for you?

  2. How does your faith support you in achieving these plans?
